Adam Gouraguine joins the Balearic Sea Report team

Adam Gouraguine (France, 1985) has joined the Balearic Sea Report (IMB) team as a researcher. Adam is a marine biologist with a long scientific career that has taken him around the world to countries where he has probably spent more hours underwater than on land. He is an expert on the fish of the Balearic Sea and the impact of human action on their populations. ‘I've always been fascinated by fish and with my work on the IMB, I aim to extend my knowledge of the Balearic Sea with a broad, cross-cutting vision,’ he says.

Adam has just moved to Palma after a stint in the Canary Islands. His professional career has taken him to Chile, the United Kingdom, the Seychelles, Indonesia, the Bahamas, and Peru. He has also worked in different research centres in the Balearic Islands, such as the Jaume Ferrer Research Station, the Spanish Institute of Oceanography, the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA), and the Marine Research and Aquaculture Laboratory (LIMIA). His thesis deals with the anthropogenic effects on fish populations in tropical seas and the Balearic Sea.

Adam takes up the baton from Natalia Barrientos, who has left the Marilles team to explore new and exciting avenues in the world of science and data processing.

Welcome to the team, Adam!
