A firm commitment and ambition in the measures to conserve the Balearic Sea: This is what we asked of the president of the government of the Balearic Islands, Margalida Prohens, in a meeting we held with her and part of her team at the Consolat de Mar on Monday, 19th May.
Our director, Aniol Esteban, called on the Executive to be proactive and committed to the conservation of the Balearic Sea and its coastline. ‘Right now, the speed is at idle speed and we need to move up a gear,’ he said.
On behalf of Marilles, the coordinator of the Balearic Sea Report, Raquel Vaquer-Sunyer, and the head of communications, Marina Forteza, also took part in the meeting. The president was accompanied by the regional councillor for Agriculture, Fisheries and the Natural Environment, Joan Simonet; the general director of Fisheries, Antoni M. Grau; and the regional secretary for Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue, Catalina Cabrer.
