2nd Participatory Forum of the Illa de l'Aire Marine Reserve

On Tuesday, 11th November, the Sala Albert Camus in Sant Lluís hosted the 2nd Participatory Forum of the Illa de l'Aire Marine Reserve (RMIA), a space for meeting and dialogue promoted by the Fòrum Illa de l'Aire. This community project is promoted by Menorca Preservation, with the collaboration of Marilles Foundation, the support of the Leader Isla de Menorca Association and the Sant Lluís Town Council, and the technical involvement of GOB Menorca and OBSAM-IME.

The forum continued the participatory governance process that began in February this year, which seeks to involve all sectors related to the Illa de l'Aire Marine Reserve – administrations, environmental organisations, fishers, diving centres, tourism companies, researchers and citizens – in the management and care of this valuable protected marine area. During the conference, the actions and progress made since the Forum was established were presented, and participatory activities and open debates were held to define proposals for action for 2026.

‘The Illa de l'Aire Forum has shown that community participation not only enriches the management of the reserve, but also generates a shared sense of responsibility and belonging towards this very special marine area’, says Aina Blanco-Magadán, project coordinator at Menorca Preservation.
