Eva Marsinyach, researcher at the Socio-Environmental Observatory of Menorca (OBSAM), during the presentation of the results of studies on the evolution of recreational fishing in Menorca within the framework of the conference "Recreational fishing in Menorca: where are we and where are we going?", organized by the Fòrum Illa de l'Aire.

Recreational fishing in Menorca has undergone significant changes over the past two decades. According to a new study by the Observatori Socioambiental de Menorca (OBSAM), fishing activity has increased by 46%, with more fishing trips taking place each year, a longer fishing season, and a noticeable expansion of activity further offshore.

The findings were presented at the event “Recreational Fishing in Menorca: Where Are We and Where Are We Heading?”, organised by the Fòrum Illa de l’Aire, a project led by Menorca Preservation in collaboration with the Marilles Foundation. The event brought together scientists, public authorities and representatives of the fishing sector to share knowledge and discuss the future challenges of recreational fishing and the sustainable management of marine resources.
