Both institutions have signed a framework collaboration agreement that will enable new initiatives to be launched within the European network of universities EUNICoast
Vice-chancellor for scientific policy and research at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), Víctor Homar, and director of Marilles Foundation, Aniol Esteban, have signed a framework agreement for collaboration that will strengthen academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation between the two institutions.
UIB and Marilles already collaborate on initiatives such as the Balearic Sea Report (IMB), which, since its creation in 2019 and its first publication in 2020, has established itself as a fundamental tool for the collection, analysis, and dissemination of scientific data on the state of the sea.
Now, thanks to the signed agreement, the foundations have been laid for the launch of new joint study programmes, as well as for the promotion of exchange and cooperation in the fields of teaching, student training, and research.
Among these initiatives, the participation of Marilles Foundation as a member of the external advisory board of the European alliance of universities EUNICoast - which brings together institutions and universities from port, coastal, and island regions across Europe - is particularly noteworthy. The alliance is a unique platform dedicated to furthering education, promoting research, and catalysing innovation with a significant social impact, especially in maritime territories.
