Perspectives that add up

From 7 to 9 October, in several places in Menorca, there will be a complete and diverse conference on marine citizen science, organised by Observadores del Mar (Sea Observers), the Socio-Environmental Observatory of Menorca  (IME-OBSAM), and the diving centres Diving Menorca and Binibeca Diving.

You can register separately for each activity choosing one or all of them.

This 3-day event is where you can enjoy lectures, workshops, diving trips, and even discover a protected marine area by boat.

On the afternoon of Friday, 7th October, in the Convention Centre of es Mercadal (CCM), there will be a series of lectures and roundtables on citizen science experiences, marine conservation, underwater photography, and scientific results.

On Saturday, 8th October, we will be taking to the sea to carry out scientific sampling. In the morning at the Diving Menorca diving centre (Fornells) there will be a workshop followed by a dive to sample the Posidonia seagrass meadow. In the afternoon, at the Binibeca diving centre (Binibeca), there will be another workshop, this time on fish indicators of climate change, followed by a dive to do a transect of the Observadores del Mar 'fish and warming' project.

On the morning of Sunday, 9th October, there will be a boat trip to get to know a marine protected area first-hand. Thanks to an onboard expert, we’ll find out what it is and what it is for. In addition, whoever wants to will be able to jump into the water.
