The full Balearic Sea Report 2024 is now available

The Balearic Sea Report (IMB) 2024 is now available to view and download in its entirety on its web platform and here. With the publication of the final chapters in June, the 2024 edition is now complete, providing access to more than 180 indicators that reveal the current state of the sea in the Balearic Islands.

IMB 2024 contains updated data on ecosystems, species, fishing, pressures, global change, marine protected areas, and social and economic benefits, among other topics. Thanks to the collaboration of numerous scientific, social, and administrative entities, the report offers a rigorous and cross-cutting view, integrating ecological, economic, and social information.

One of the great values of the IMB is that it updates data series annually, allowing the evolution of the main indicators to be observed over time, the effectiveness of the measures applied to be evaluated, and new ones to be proposed, prioritising priority conservation areas. At the same time, it also highlights existing knowledge gaps that need to be further researched.

With this comprehensive edition, the IMB solidifies its role as a useful tool for citizens, the scientific community, and institutions, and confirms the importance of having transparent, rigorous, and up-to-date information to advance towards better management and conservation of the Balearic Sea.
