“Arxipèlag blau” reaches the public in Catalonia

The documentary series Arxipèlag blau (Blue Archipelago), co-produced by Marilles and IB3, can now be seen on the 3Cat platform.

This summer, the series began broadcasting on Channel 33 and is now available on the 3Cat platform.

Arxipèlag blau is a six-episode documentary series produced by IB3 and Marilles Foundation in collaboration with the production company Miraprim. It shows spectacular images of the marine habitats and fauna of the Balearic Islands - a diversity of life very close to us that many are unaware of.

With the presentation and narration by IB3 geographer and meteorologist Miquel Salamanca, viewers discover diverse ecosystems and marine environments throughout the six episodes. The episodes are complemented with an outing with marine biologist Gàdor Muntaner, which allows us to get to know some of the most beautiful places of the Balearic coasts, where we can dive to discover the flora and fauna of our sea.

Salamanca and Muntaner are the visible faces of a much larger team of professionals, such as underwater cameramen and filmmakers Agustí Torres, Sergi Escandell, Nando Darder, and Miquel Vives, and the archive of Fernando Garfella. They, and others, have made it possible for viewers to enjoy unique images that are part of our treasure: the Mediterranean Sea.

The original idea for this series was born in IB3, specifically on the initiative of its delegate producer, Carmelo Sirera, and marine biologist Xisco Riera. It was realised thanks to the support of Marilles Foundation, led by Aniol Esteban, and the executive production of Diego Villalonga (Miraprim).
