To advance marine protection, it is essential to understand the landscape and have a solid communication strategy. Who are we addressing? How should we speak to them? What concerns do our audiences have?
We brought together communication leads from scientific and conservation organisations across the Spanish Mediterranean for a workshop on new narratives, aimed at building a shared story and exchanging knowledge and strategies. The session featured a presentation by Andreu Escrivà, who provided key insights on how to effectively communicate the ecological crisis and the need for action.
The workshop is part of our “Changing Narratives” project, which seeks to transform public perception of marine conservation, strengthen the value of Marine Protected Areas and contribute to achieving the global 30x30 target.
In this first phase, we presented the results of a social perception analysis on marine conservation—an essential foundation for developing shared narratives that help generate social and political support for effective protection of the Mediterranean.
