The La mar de ciencia awards are intended to bring marine sciences closer to young people and to raise their awareness of the importance of scientific research and investigation for the conservation of our oceans. Young people aged between 5 and 17 years from all over Spain can participate in the competition. The students can use the different forms of art permitted in the event (video, drawing and narrative) to express their opinions about sea -related topics.

Marilles has supported the third edition, under the slogan “Mares limpios. Cambia la marea del plástico” [Clean seas. Turn the plastic tide], in which a total of 929 participants submitted 576 entries. The six winners travelled to the Balearic Islands to learn more about the research being conducted by the CSIC and the SOCIB in this autonomous community.
