Plastic-Free Menorca is an alliance of five organisations with a great track record in the protection and preservation of the environment, joining forces to reduce single-use plastic on the island. Their main objectives are to coordinate efforts to prevent and reduce plastic use, research alternatives to disposable plastic, and create the Plastic-Free Menorca certification for local companies.

Their work is crucial to effectively implementing the Balearic Law on Waste. This law prohibits the sale of various single-use plastic products. The members of the Alliance are the Menorca Preservation Fund, GOB Menorca, OBSAM, Per la Mar Viva, and the Leader Illa de Menorca Association.

“During the last decades, the indiscriminate use of single-use plastic has created a serious environmental problem that affects the entire planet. ‘Think globally, act locally’ is the leitmotif of the Menorca Sense Plàstic Alliance, which will bring local solutions to this type of pollution.”
