Thirteen organisations working in marine conservation took part in a training course to improve their advocacy skills. Marilles Foundation organised this training, which was given by the specialist non-market strategy consultancy Harmon, at Can Alcover (Palma).
Participants came from the following organisations from all over the islands: Arrels Marines, Cleanwave Foundation, Gen GOB, GOB Mallorca, GOB Menorca, Ibiza Preservation, Iniciativa de Custodia del Territorio, Palma Aquarium, Plastic Free Menorca, Rezero, Save the Med Foundation, SharkMed, and Marilles Foundation.
The training covered different issues related to political advocacy at island, regional, national, and European levels. The participating organisations studied the main legislative processes they can lobby on, as well as the tools they have at their disposal to do so. They also learned first-hand about successful experiences and shared their own experiences.
A key action area
A strong and well-managed network of organisations and entities is essential to ensuring that the public authorities protect the Balearic Sea. That is why one of Marilles’s main lines of action is to offer training to strengthen the third sector in the Balearic Islands.
The third sector training in the Balearic Islands is supported by TUI Care Fountadion.
